If you are currently pregnant or planning a family, the Doctors and the staff at Clifton Beach Medical and Surgical are well equipped with all aspects of antenatal care. Vasectomies are performed (usually on a Wednesday, Thursday or Friday) under local anaesthetic in conjunction with an awake light anaesthetic. It is relatively painless and mild discomfort from the procedure may last for a few days only. An appointment to discuss the procedure and its requirements is needed a few weeks prior to the operation.
The practice is equipped to do most minor surgical procedures, involving removal of skin cancers, skin grafting, ingrown toenail surgery, vasectomy and cryotherapy. Cryotherapy (freezing of skin lesions ie cancers, warts etc)
Pap Smear tests are a screening test for women involving an examination of the cervix (neck of the womb). Sample cells are removed from the cervix to check for changes which occur prior to cancer developing. These changes can be treated and cancer prevented. We recommend that all women up to the age of 70 years
If you are travelling overseas, you may need extra vaccinations. Please contact the surgery in good time, as some vaccinations need to be given a month or so before travelling.
